Easter Competition Time!
To celebrate Easter, we’d like you to share your decorated eggs with us. So get creative they don’t need to be done traditionally like the photo – just get decorating! Send your photographs to firstname.lastname@example.org or @FantasyFell on Face Book and Twitter, and we’ll decide on the winner – the deadline is Friday, the 21st April 2017 so kids and big kids you’ve got the whole of the holidays to decorate!
The winner will receive two Fantasy Fell Talisman Egg Cups.
Today at Fantasy Fell we’ve been making Pasche Eggs. We believe it’s more of a tradition in the North West, (but do tell us otherwise) and certainly here in Cumbria we’d make our Pasche Eggs by boiling them with onion skins and then roll them down a hill on Easter Sunday and the egg that gets the furthest wins!
Pace or Pasche? There appears to be both versions and apparently “Pace” comes from the Latin “Pacha” which means Easter and the word Pasche comes from the Jewish word passover, and further back, from the celtic pasch. interestingly apparently the William Wordsworth Museum at Grasmere displays a small collection of Pace Eggs that were originally decorated for William’s children!!
Please share this post with your friends. Best of luck, Fantasy Fell
